2011 District Council Report

The Southern Missouri District of the Assemblies of God is a Pentecostal fellowship located in the Southern portion of Missouri (South of the Missouri River) with it`s headquarters in Springfield. It is one of 58 Districts making up the General Council of the Assemblies of God with its world wide headquarters also located in Springfield. This District Council is comprised of 363 churches with approximately 1,450 credentialed ministers, including pastors, associates, evangelists, chaplains and missionaries. Our churches represent more than 45,000 members.

Our mission is to impact our world with the message of God`s word, the Bible. We believe that Jesus, the Son of God, has died for our sins and has also risen again with a message of hope to a hurting world. He also gave us a commandment before returning to heaven that we should have the power of the Holy Spirit to share this hope with the world. Our vision is to penetrate all cultures with this message and we will do everything possible to equip and train our ministers and churches to accomplish this task.

To challenge and see that each church has a discipleship ministry utilizing the "We Build People" series.

To encourage and assist every church to have a missions convention.

To mobilize and train pastors to reach their community with a fresh zeal and message.

To plant new churches in Missouri's two largest cities, St. Louis and Kansas City.

That every school would have a witness of the gospel so that every student would have a chance to know Christ before graduating from high school.

To perpetuate and proclaim the revival of Pentecostal power that is sweeping across our nation and world.
